And the Angel went in unto her, and said, Hail thou that art freely beloved: the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
On this wintery Sunday morning, I’m stuck in the house as church as has been cancelled due to inclement weather in the Northeast. Many people did not make it through Storm Jonas, the first snowstorm of 2016 which dumped over 2 feet of snow on the Northeast.
While I was sitting here on Facebook I saw these lovely ladies sing a classic, Blessed and Highly Favored. Take a listen. This song, originally sung by The Clark Sisters, throughout my life has been reminder of how good God has been. Its only the first month of 2016 and so many famous people have died from illnesses, 11 people died from this snowstorm and let’s not forget all the other dangers we face everyday living in America and beyond. But no matter what we face, God has promised to keep and protect.
The lyrics in Blessed and Highly Favored say:
He brought me through hard trials
He brought me through tribulations
Never let a day go by and not realize
Had not been for the Lord who was on my side
Back was against the wall
He looked out for me
He heard my cry and rescued me
Never let a day go by and not realize we are blessed
[Chorus:]
Don’t take it for granted that we are here today
Just know that we’re blessed and highly favored
Don’t Take it for Granted
These words are so powerful and should serve as a reminder everyday of God’s love for us and that He always has our back. Each day when you wake up, make a habit to count your blessings, big and small, and see how good you’ve got it. For tomorrow is not promised to any of us.
So as you go about the rest of your Sunday and into the busy work work, be reminded of grateful you should be that God loves you no matter and you are truly blessed and highly favored.
